tr4mpass is a free, open-source command-line tool that removes the Apple iCloud Activation Lock from iPhone and iPad devices. It runs locally on your computer, needs no servers, no payments and no account, and covers iOS 12 through iOS 26.1 on iPhone 5s through iPhone 15 Pro.
What is tr4mpass?
tr4mpass is a C-based utility written for technicians and power users who want a no-cost iCloud unlock route. Because the full source code is published on GitHub, you can inspect exactly what the program does before running it — a clear difference from many closed-source unlock tools that ship as untrusted binaries. It works fully offline: you plug in the device, run a single command, and the tool handles the removal on your machine.
How It Works
tr4mpass automatically selects one of two bypass paths depending on the device chip:
- Path A (checkm8) — for Apple A5 to A11 devices (iPhone 5s through iPhone X). On older A8/A9 units signal may be Wi-Fi only; from iPhone 6s/7 upwards signal is preserved.
- Path B (session activation) — for A12 and newer devices (iPhone XR up to iPhone 15 Pro / A14-A17), keeping full cellular signal.
Supported hardware spans iPhone 5s through iPhone 15 Pro, plus iPad, iPod touch 6th/7th gen, Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch Series 1-3.
Features
- Fully offline — nothing is sent to external servers.
- Free and open source (C, public GitHub repository).
- Works on Linux, macOS and Windows (via WSL).
- Options like detect-only, dry-run, verbose and forced bypass paths.
How to Use
- Clone/download the repository.
- Install dependencies (Linux): libusb, libimobiledevice, libplist, OpenSSL, pkg-config.
- Run ./start.sh, or run make and call the binary directly.
- Connect the device and follow the on-screen steps for your chip.
System Requirements
- Windows (WSL / Ubuntu), macOS or Linux computer
- iPhone/iPad placed in the required DFU/recovery mode
- Apple device drivers on Windows, or libimobiledevice tools on Linux/macOS
Notes
Use this tool only on devices you legally own. The project targets iOS up to 26.1 and is under active development. No reliable tool screenshot is available, so this post is published without an image — always build from the official repository rather than random binaries claiming to be tr4mpass.
